z-inspiration #2 on Mindfulness

Dilip Patel's blog, Z-inspiration, explores the meditative experiences connected to practicing zentangle. The second post on this blog  asked readers to focus on the value word "Mindful." This Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) is my response. I used the outline of a lotus to hold the following tangles, in order from left to right: the first four are the Zentangle patterns Munchin, Ixorus, 'Nzeppel, Dex, and Fife. Then I used Up and Across (McNeill), and Lacy (Strait).  For many people, the lotus symbolizes purity. Even though the lotus's roots are in the muddy bottoms of lakes or ponds, the lotus's flower rises beautifully above the surface of the water. I suppose that "mental purity" would be the ability to be mindful of the present moment.
